Dormitory Residence Period

Chest X-ray Certificate for Dormitory moving in (mendatory)

  • KAIST Clinic: After taking chest X-ray, download “Chest X-ray Certificate for dormitory moving in” at clinic.kaist.ac.kr and upload to KDS
    (https://kds.kaist.ac.kr > Dormitory Application > Chest X-ray submission)
  • External Hospital: get signature or seal for the certificate and upload
    (https://kds.kaist.ac.kr > Dormitory Application > Chest X-ray submission)
  • Medical check-up(chest X-ray) must be submitted prior to additional application

Additional Application Dormitory Allocation Process

  • Method : choose an available dormitory (room is random)
  • Allocation result : can be checked after the payment
  • Dormitory fee payment must be made within 72 hours of application (or the application will be automatically cancelled)
  • 30,000 Won of penalty will be levied if you cancel application 24 hours after the allocation
  • In case of a shared room, room with 1 person will be first filled (ex: a double room occupied by 1 person will be first allocated)

Regular/Seasonal semester allocation process (virtual room)

Allocation priority

Room Creator Priority
The rank of a virtual room will be determined by the priority of the room creator. After the rank determination of the virtual room, roommates with the same rank will form. Students with excess semesters, students who did not submit medical check-ups affect the rank of their roommates.

11st priority
undergraduates within 8 semesters attedning
22nd priority
one who applied for the dorm but stayed outside of the campus
33rd priority
graduate school freshmen
44th priority
Master degree student within 4 semesters, Ph.D student within 8 semesters, integrated students within 10 semesters
55th priority
students who didnt submit medical check-up (virtual room creator will have same priority if roommate didn’t submit it)
66th priority
students with excess semesters(one will have same priority if one’s roommate is attending excess semesters)

※ Calculation of scores for the semester : Bachelor/Master's degree is 2 points per semester and 1 point per semester for the Ph.D. program is 1 point per semester
